Built-In Report Image When you click a plotted symbol, it displays 2 links, "Report Image (PDF
file)" and "Report Image (TIF file)" These 2 links are for adding
a scanned crash report that is associated with a crash record.
You can add a scanned
crash report image to any crash record at any time, in PDF or TIF format. When
you click the "Report Image ..." link, If you have added the scanned
report for that crash record, it will display the report image on the
screen. If you have not added the scanned report for that crash record, it will
simply indicate it cannot display it and you can add it at any other time.
The way it works is as
follows: Each plotted symbol is associated with a crash record. Each crash
record has a unique ID, such as report number. If you save the scanned crash
report with a file name equal to the unique ID, when you click a plotted symbol,
it will associate with a crash record, and it will associate with a scanned
crash report.
The following steps
shows how to make use of the built-in feature to add scanned report
images:
Create a subfolder called "Images" under the folder where the KMZ
file (the file for displaying collision diagrams or crash locations in Google Earth) is located.
For example, if CCC is the folder where the KMZ file is located. Create a
subfolder called "CCC\Images".
Use any scanner to scan the original report.
Save the scanned report in TIF or PDF file format. Use the report ID as the
file name. For example, if the original report has a report ID of XXX, then
save the file as XXX.tif or XXX.pdf.
Put the scanned file in "CCC\Images\XXX.tif" or "CCC\Images\XXX.pdf.
When you click a plotted symbol, and when you click the link "Report
Image ...", it will display the scanned file that you have saved in step
3.
